Technology for Teachers

“You can do anything you set your mind to.”  – Benjamin Franklin

This quote from Benjamin Franklin embodies my teaching philosophy and personal view on life.  If you believe it, you can do it. Does that mean everything will come easy?  Absolutely not!  Everyone is different which means we learn differently and therefore get from point A to point B in our own unique way.  Sometimes we can accomplish our goals on our own.  Sometimes we need support. Here at Special Techucation, I want to share ideas and resources that will help students and teachers accomplish their goals using technology.

My name is Christine Balgord and I have been teaching for over 15 years and hope each student I work with leaves my classroom knowing they can do anything they want to do if they believe in themselves and work hard.  My educational experience includes being an elementary special education, a general education teacher working with third, fourth and fifth-grade students, and currently a middle school special education teacher.  I have had the opportunity to do a lot of firsts using technology in the classroom.  I had one of the first SMART Boards in the district.  I was an early user of Schoology.  I was in the district’s first Technology cohort.  I was a part of the 1:1 Chromebook implementation for middle school.  All of which led me to become a Level 1 and Level 2 Google Certified teacher.  I work daily to use my knowledge to help students be more successful and help my fellow teachers to their work efficiently.

Special Techucation is a resource for teachers looking for ways to support students with different learning needs in the 21st Century classroom.  Students and teachers can do anything they set their mind to and using technology we can get where we need to go in our own unique way.
